IPL started in the year 2008 and within no time it changed the entire story of the cricket world. The first match of IPL was played between RCB and KKR on 18th April 2008 at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Sourav Ganguly was leading Kolkata and Rahul Dravid was leading Bangalore. Dravid won the toss and decided to field first. KKR scored 222 runs for 3 wickets in this match. Whereas RCB was bowled out for just 82 runs in 15.1 overs. Thus KKR won this match by 140 runs. The real hero of this match was the current coach of England and New Zealand's dashing player Brendon McCullum. This Kiwi player created havoc in the match with his bat itself.
KKR opener Brendon McCullum played a brilliant innings of 158 runs in just 73 balls. In this match, McCullum hit 13 sixes and 10 fours and he was the first 'Player of the Match' of IPL. Rajasthan Royals won this first season. Australia's great spinner Shane Warne led the Rajasthan team to this title under his captaincy.
