Ola Electric caught in a new case, Rosmerta Digital dragged it to NCLT for default in payment of ₹18-20 crores

Rosmerta Digital Services Limited has filed a case against Ola Electric Technologies, a subsidiary of electric two-wheeler maker Ola Electric . Rosmerta has dragged the company to court for default in payment of about Rs 18-20 crore. Ola Electric has informed the stock markets about this. Rosmerta Digital Services is a high security number plate maker and vehicle registration agency.

Ola Electric's exchange filing said that Rosmerta Digital Services has filed a petition against Ola Electric Technologies in NCLT, Bengaluru alleging default in payment. Also, corporate insolvency resolution process has been initiated under section 9 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.

The company said it has sought appropriate legal advice and strongly denies the claims made by Rosmerta. The company will take all necessary and appropriate steps to protect its interests and defend itself against Rosmerta's allegations.

Renegotiation of contracts with vehicle registration agencies

On February 19, 2025, Ola Electric said that it was renegotiating contracts with its vehicle registration agencies. The company had indicated that this would temporarily affect the registration of the company's scooters on the government's vehicle registration portal VAHAN portal. However, Ola Electric had clarified that there is no negative impact on actual sales due to this process.

According to data on the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways website, Ola Electric sold 8,647 scooters in February. However, the company has claimed to have sold more than 25,000 units. At the same time, sources said that there was no difference between actual sales in February and the figures on the ministry's website. As of March 13, Ola Electric had recorded sales of 5,208 units. Ola Electric is targeting a sales run rate of 50,000 units every month to become EBITDA positive.

Rosmerta's lawsuit comes at a time when Ola Electric is facing investigation by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA). The authority has sought additional documents related to more than 10,000 consumer complaints filed against the company and its products.
