Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the first budget of the new Delhi government on 25 March (Tuesday). Presenting a budget of Rs 1,00,000, she made a series of announcements for women, youth, businessmen and common people. On one hand, she accused the old AAP government of Delhi of not doing anything for the common people and on the other hand, she announced new schemes, which will make the life of the people of Delhi easier than before. Gupta's budget is 31.5 percent bigger than last year's budget.

Government will start 100 Atal canteens

The budget session of the Delhi Assembly started on 24 March. Today Rekha Gupta presented the budget for the financial year 2025-26. The focus of this budget was on the common people of Delhi. The Chief Minister said that the government will start 100 Atal canteens. For this, he allocated Rs 100 crore. This will enable common people to get food at cheap prices. He said that lakhs of people live in slums in Delhi. The government will try to improve the lives of such people. For this, he announced an allocation of Rs 696 crore for the development of slum clusters.

Government's focus is on infrastructure, roads and electricity

The Chief Minister said that special attention has been given to infrastructure, electricity, roads and water in the budget of the Delhi government. The government is going to take big steps to overcome the water crisis of the people of Delhi. He said that the Delhi government has allocated Rs 1,000 crore to improve connectivity in Delhi-NCR. This will make it easier for the people of Delhi-NCR to travel from one place to another.

Delhi residents will get clean water

Gupta said that the government's priority will be to provide clean water to every household. For this, the government will upgrade the entire sewer system. The government's focus will be on water supply and sanitation. For this, the government has allocated Rs 9,000 crore in the budget. The government will use this money to lay new water pipelines. It will expand sewer lines. This will provide clean water to every person in Delhi.

Rs 350 crore allocated for MLA fund

He said that now MLA fund will play a big role in the development of Delhi. For this, the government is allocating Rs 350 crore for MLA fund. This will provide sufficient funds to all the MLAs for development works in their areas. In the new government, MLAs will not face shortage of funds for development works.

Focus will increase on women's safety

The government has focused on women in the budget. For this, the government will focus on increasing the safety of women. For this, 50,000 CCTV cameras will be installed in Delhi. The Chief Minister said that the government has allocated Rs 28,000 crore to improve the infrastructure including roads and bridges in Delhi. He announced an allocation of Rs 5,100 crore for the Mahila Samridhi Yojana.

6874 crore allocated for improving health facilities

Rekha Gupta said that the government's focus will be on improving health facilities. For this, Rs 6874 crore is being allocated. The government has allocated Rs 1,000 crore to 10 to 12 hospitals in the capital. With this money, the facilities available in these hospitals will be improved. The government has allocated Rs 320 crore for Arogya Ayush Mandir. This will enable the people of Delhi to get better health facilities.

Language labs will open in government schools

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that language labs will be opened in 100 government schools of Delhi. The laboratory will be opened in the name of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Different languages will be taught in these labs using artificial intelligence. The government has allocated Rs 100 crore for smart classes. This will help in providing education to students using modern methods in schools.

9000 crore rupees will be spent to clean Yamuna

The Chief Minister said that the government will increase its focus on cleaning the Yamuna. Rs 9000 crore will be spent on this. Also, work will be done to improve the sewage treatment plant at a cost of Rs 500 crore. Currently, all the treatment plants are working at full capacity. The government will increase the number of treatment plants so that dirty water does not go into the Yamuna. This will help in cleaning the Yamuna.

5100 crore rupees for Mahila Samridhi Yojana

The government has allocated Rs 5100 crore for the Mahila Samridhi Yojana. With this money, financial assistance of Rs 2500 will be provided to the women of Delhi every month. BJP had announced this scheme during the elections. With this money, financial assistance will be given to economically weak women.

500 new foster homes will be opened

The government has allocated Rs 50 crore to open 500 new crèche. This will help women who face problems in taking care of their children while going to work.
