An earthquake occurred on Wednesday morning local time in Yongqing County located in Langfang, Hebei Province in northern China. Its intensity was measured at 4.2 on the Richter scale. China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), which monitors earthquakes in China, has given information about this incident. The earthquake occurred 20 kilometers below the ground surface. Its epicenter is 55 km away from China's capital Beijing. Due to which tremors were felt in Beijing as well.

China's alert system immediately issued alert messages on people's phones. This gave people a chance to be alert. Let us tell you that China is one of the countries sensitive to earthquakes. Earthquakes of mild to severe intensity keep occurring here from time to time.

There is no news of loss of life or property

Even after the earthquake, power supply and vehicular movement remained intact. There have been no reports of casualties or property damage so far. The Emergency Management Bureau of Langfang city has sent staff to the epicenter to assess the situation. There are many villages and towns within a 5 km radius of the earthquake. According to media reports, the epicenter of the earthquake is 13 kilometers from Yongqing County, 15 kilometers from the urban area of Langfang and 55 kilometers from the urban area of Beijing. According to information received from CENC, in the past 5 years, a total of eight earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or more have been felt within 200 kilometers from the epicenter. This earthquake was the most powerful among them.

People felt the earthquake in many areas including Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin. Meanwhile, many users mentioned the earthquake on China's social media Sina Weibo. One user wrote that he woke up with an earthquake alert. One user said that as soon as I fell asleep, the alarm rang. Another user said that he thought it was his illusion.
