Stock Market LIVE Updates: Nifty opened above 22450, Sensex up 100 points, market eyes on IndusInd Bank, Shilpa Medicare and Dr Reddy's

Market on Thursday: Nifty below 22400, Sensex down 201 points

Benchmark indices ended lower in a volatile session. The Nifty slipped below 22,400 despite positive cues from industrial production and retail inflation data. The Sensex closed 200.85 points, or 0.27 per cent, lower at 73,828.91 and the Nifty closed 73.30 points, or 0.33 per cent lower, at 22,397.20. The BSE midcap and smallcap indices declined 0.7 per cent each.

Shriram Finance, Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, IndusInd Bank, Hindalco Industries were the top Nifty losers. While Bharat Electronics, SBI, ICICI Bank, Cipla, NTPC saw gains. Looking at the sectoral indices, Auto, IT, Metal, Media, Realty declined by 0.5-1 percent, while the PSU Bank index rose by 0.5 percent.
