Rachel Kaur, who lives in Malaysia, is the Assistant Manager of Finance Operations in AirAsia, an airline company. Rachel is a mother of two children and has adopted a unique method to maintain her work life balance. In her interview to CNA, Rachel has told that her house is in Penang, but her office is located in Kuala Lumpur. To go to office every day, she wakes up at 4 am, leaves home at 5 am and catches the flight at 6:30 am. After traveling about 600 kilometers, she reaches the office at 7:45 am. Because of this, people call her 'super commuter'.

Rachel said that she adopts this method so that she can balance her professional and personal life and spend more time with her children. She says that this method is much cheaper than buying a house near the office. Rachel has two children, a 12-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter. She believes that as the children grow up, it is very important for the mother to stay with the children. For this reason, she flies from Penang to Kuala Lumpur every day, which gives her a chance to spend time with the children at night. Earlier, she used to rent a house in Kuala Lumpur and return to Penang only once a week. But now she is able to spend more time with her family with her new routine.

Rachel's day begins at 4:00 a.m. She leaves for the airport by 5:00 a.m. and reaches the office by 7:45 a.m. after catching a 5:55 a.m. flight. After spending the entire day at the office, she returns home at 8:00 p.m.

So much money is spent

Rachel spends 11 US dollars on daily travel. However, despite travelling daily, Rachel is spending less money than before. According to her, while living in Kuala Lumpur, she had to spend 340 US dollars per month on rent, but now she has to spend only 226 US dollars on travel. But due to travelling daily from home, the cost of food has also reduced and it has become 68 US dollars per month, earlier she had to spend 135 dollars.
