DA Hike Update : Will the central government announce an increase in dearness allowance tomorrow, Wednesday 5 March? Employees and pensioners are waiting for their DA to increase before Holi (Holi 2025). Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA is increased twice a year. The first increase comes into effect from January 1 and the second from July 1.
Will DA increase by 3 percent?
The government can announce a 3 percent increase in DA. If this happens, the salary of all the central government officials from entry-level to top government officials will increase. Employees whose basic salary is Rs 18,000 per month will see an increase of up to Rs 540 per month in their salary.
How is dearness allowance calculated?
If an employee's salary is Rs 30,000 and his basic salary is Rs 18,000, then he is currently getting 50% i.e. Rs 9,000 as DA. If there is a 3% increase, the DA will increase to Rs 9,540, which will increase the salary by Rs 540. If there is a 4% increase in the salary, the DA will become Rs 9,720 and the salary will increase by Rs 720.
How much was the DA increased last year?
In March 2024, the government increased DA by 4% to 50%. After this, there was a 3% increase in October 2024, which made DA 53%. Now DA is expected to increase by 3-4% again from January 2025. The government may announce the increase in DA anytime, but it is considered to be applicable from January 1, 2025.
More than one crore government employees will benefit
About one crore central government employees and pensioners will benefit from this decision. According to government rules, DA and dearness relief (DR) given to pensioners is revised twice a year – in January and July. If this increase is implemented, the salary of government employees will once again see an increase.
