After China, Mexico also retaliated, will impose tariff on America, President announced

On Tuesday, Mexico also announced to impose retaliatory tariffs after the US imposed custom duty. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said that she will announce the products that Mexico will target in a public event at the Central Plaza of Mexico City on Sunday. Sheinbaum made this announcement after the US imposed customs duty i.e. tariff. The US has imposed a 25 percent tariff on products imported from Mexico.

"There is no motive or reason and no justification that supports this (US) decision, which will impact our people and our countries," Sheinbaum said.

Sheinbaum's announcement indicates that Mexico is still hoping that perhaps the trade war started by US President Donald Trump can be 'eased' somewhat.

Earlier, China imposed an additional 15 percent duty on American products in response to the second round of 10 percent tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump on its (China's) exports. China has also started legal action against the US in the World Trade Organization (WTO). However, China has kept the doors open for talks to address each other's concerns.

China's Customs Commission said on Tuesday that additional tariffs will be imposed on some products imported from the US from March 10.

The commission said in a statement that an additional 15 percent duty will be imposed on chicken, wheat, maize and cotton imported from the US. An additional 10 percent duty will be imposed on millet, soybean, pork, beef, aquatic products, fruits, vegetables and dairy products.
