Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big announcement on February 13. He said that trade between India and America will reach $ 500 billion by 2030. PM Modi made this announcement after meeting US President Donald Trump. The two leaders had extensive talks on many issues including trade. After that PM Modi and Trump addressed a joint press conference. Bilateral trade between India and America is currently less than $ 150 billion. Therefore, if it reaches $ 500 billion in 5 years, it means that Indian companies will get a big opportunity to increase their exports.
MEGA partnership between India and America
There was a wide-ranging discussion between PM Modi ( Narendra Modi ) and Trump ( Donald Trump ) on many issues at the White House in Washington DC. Energy, defense and artificial intelligence are the most important among these. PM Modi said that while the US President's focus is on ' Make America Great Again ' i.e. MAGA , India's focus is on developed India which means ' Make India Great Again ' i.e. MIGA . He said that the coming together of MIGA and MAGA forms the MEGA partnership whose aim is prosperity.
Currently India-US trade is worth $129 billion
Currently, America is India's largest trade partner. In 2024, the trade between the two countries was $129.2 billion. PM Modi said that both the countries have agreed to increase oil and gas trade, investment in renewable energy and defense cooperation. He said, "America has a big role in India's defense preparation. Being a strategic and trusted partner, we are moving towards joint development, joint production and transfer of technology."
Most focus on cooperation in energy and defense
Modi said that in future our capability will increase with new technology and equipment. He said, "We have decided to launch the Autonomous System Alliance. A defense cooperation framework will be prepared for the next decade." This means that cooperation between the two countries is going to increase in many areas. Companies from many sectors will benefit from this. Business opportunities will increase especially for companies in the energy and defense sectors.
People in India will get safe, clean and cheap electricity
Trump also talked about the growing possibilities of trade between the two countries. He said, "Modi and I have reached an important agreement related to energy. This will make America the largest supplier of oil and gas to India. Increasing cooperation with India will also create big opportunities for American nuclear technology, which is at a high level in the Indian market. This will provide safe, clean and cheap electricity to crores of Indians. Along with this, the American civilian nuclear industry in India will get billions of dollars." Trump also said that the way is also getting cleared to sell F-35 fighter jets to India.

India, Middle East, Europe corridor will be built
Trump said that India and America have agreed to create a trade route that will be one of the largest trade routes in history. He meant the India, Middle East, Europe (IMEC) corridor. It will go from India to Israel and then to Italy. From there it will go to America. He said that this will connect our partners with roads, railways and undersea cables. This is a huge development.
