'Virat Kohli plays British game': After calling Rohit Sharma 'fat', now Congress leader Shama Mohammed's new post goes viral

Rohit Sharma Fat Controversy: Amid the ongoing uproar over the comments made by Congress leader Shama Mohammad on the fitness of Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma, she has now made such a statement on Virat Kohli, which has started a new controversy. Shama Mohammad's old controversial posts have become a topic of discussion. In the year 2018, she had targeted Kohli. Amid the Rohit Sharma controversy, her old tweet has now gone viral on social media. Earlier, she had created a controversy by calling Rohit Sharma "fat" and "ineffective captain".

In November 2018, Mohammad had said that people who like English and Australian batsmen should not live in India. Shama Mohammad had tweeted in November 2018 (now X), "Virat Kohli plays a British game. Earns crores from foreign brands. Gets married in Italy, names Herschelle Gibbs as his favourite cricketer and Angelique Kerber as the best tennis player. But he asks people who like foreign batsmen to leave the country."

This statement of Shama Mohammed is being criticized a lot on social media. Fans of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are giving sharp reactions to her old and new posts. The Congress spokesperson created a controversy by making an objectionable comment about Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma that he is fat and also an ineffective captain. However, after the controversy, she has deleted her controversial post.

Congress reprimanded her for this and advised her to avoid such comments in future. Party's media cell chief Pawan Khera said that Shama's comment is not the opinion of Congress. On the other hand, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targeted Congress and termed the statement made on height as shameful.

Senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Saugata Roy supported Shama and said that what the Congress leader has said is correct and Rohit Sharma should not be in the team. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya targeted Congress and TMC over the statements of Shama and Roy and posted on X, "Congress and TMC should leave the players alone as they are fully capable of handling their professional lives."

Mandaviya said, "The comments made by the leaders of these parties, indulging in height-related remarks and questioning an athlete's place in the team, are not only extremely shameful but totally reprehensible." He said that such comments undermine the hard work and sacrifices made by the players to represent the country on the global stage.

Taking Congress spokesperson Shama Mohammad to task, BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia said that while the Indian team is playing the Champions Trophy, it is unfortunate that a responsible person has made such a cheap statement. The Indian team is playing the semi-final of the Champions Trophy against Australia in Dubai today i.e. on Tuesday.
