Water ATM: Clean water will be available in Delhi, Rekha government will install 5000 water ATMs, know the complete plan

The Delhi government has started a new initiative to solve the drinking water problem of the people. The Delhi government is preparing to install water ATMs in the slum areas and JJ clusters of the city. This will reduce the dependence of the people living here on the water tankers of the Delhi Jal Board. The Rekha government is preparing to install 5000 new water ATMs in Delhi. Through which clean water can be provided to everyone at a low price. Officials said that the water 'kiosks' will be installed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

These will be installed especially in those places where there is no pipeline and water supply is dependent on tankers. People will get potable water at affordable rates from water ATMs. In the first phase of the scheme, these water ATMs will be installed in commercial centers and markets.

Water ATM successful in Gurugram and Faridabad

Let us tell you that water ATMs are quite popular in NCR cities including Gurugram and Faridabad. In the national capital too, these facilities have been provided in New Delhi Municipal Council areas. Here, Water Minister Pravesh Verma said that we are preparing to provide water through water ATMs. Apart from this, we are also looking into whether the plastic bottles used in these machines can be returned or not. So that these water bottles can be recycled and reused.

AAP government had also installed water ATMs

In the year 2023, the previous AAP government had announced to install 500 water ATMs in the slum areas of the city. However, this plan could not be implemented at the ground level. Some machines were installed in Hari Nagar Khajan Basti, Shakur Basti, Deshbandhu Apartment in Kalkaji and Jharoda. However, it could not be successful.

What is 'Water ATM'?

'Water ATM' is a special machine that provides clean water. Water can be taken by inserting a card or coin in it. Usually these machines are installed in markets, bus stands, railway stations and crowded places. People will get water easily through this and the need to buy bottles will be reduced.
