The effect of Western Disturbance is clearly visible in North India for the last two days. Due to this, there is heavy snowfall in the high Himalayan regions, while the cold has increased in the plains. Due to light rain and movement of clouds in many cities including Delhi, there has been a fluctuation in temperature. While the maximum temperature has dropped, the minimum temperature has increased. Due to the dense presence of clouds in the capital Delhi, there was fog throughout the day, due to which the weather remained pleasant. According to meteorologists, due to the effect of Western Disturbance, there may be intermittent drizzle in the coming days as well.
Along with this, further changes in temperature are possible due to the increase in wind speed. Experts say that this seasonal change will affect many states of North India, due to which there will be a disparity in day and night temperatures.
Current temperature of Delhi
According to Delhi's Safdarjung Meteorological Centre:
Maximum temperature: 25°C (1.1°C below normal)
Minimum temperature: 18.4°C (5.9°C above normal)
Humidity level: 56% to 75%
February temperatures are above average
This time the temperature in Delhi in February was recorded above normal. According to meteorologists:
Average maximum temperature: 26.7°C (normal is 24.2°C)
Average minimum temperature: 11.6°C (normal is 10.6°C)
This means that Delhi's nights have been warmer by an average of 1°C this time. Due to the western disturbances being weak, the expected rains did not occur in January and February this time, due to which the effect of winter was less.
Upcoming weather forecast
According to the Meteorological Department, there will be a change in the weather in the next few days:
March 1 (Saturday): Light rain likely
March 2 (Sunday): There may be drizzle
March 3 (Monday): Partly cloudy
March 5 (Tuesday): The weather will be completely clear
March 6 (Wednesday): There will be light movement of clouds
7-8 March (Thursday-Friday): Weather likely to remain clear
Effect on wind speed and pollution
According to Mahesh Palawat, vice president of Skymet Weather, strong winds are expected from March 3 to 4. This may cause a slight drop in minimum temperatures and improve air quality, due to which pollution levels are expected to remain relatively low.
The effect of western disturbance continues in Delhi at this time, due to which there is movement of clouds and light rain. Along with the change in temperature, the speed of winds will increase by next week, which may bring some coolness in the weather. Pollution level is also likely to remain under control.
