For the first time in the last three years, Delhiites breathed clean air as the city on Saturday recorded an average air quality index (AQI) of 85, the lowest in the last three years between January and March. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) also said that this was the first day of 2025 when the AQI was "satisfactory". "Delhi has witnessed 'satisfactory' AQI in the month of March for the first time in five years since 2020," said a post on X.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), AQI between 0 to 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor' and 401 to 500 'severe'.
Meanwhile, according to the CPCB's AQI monitor, the Anand Vihar air quality monitor recorded an AQI of 80 as of 7 pm on Saturday. The lowest AQI in the capital as of 7 pm was recorded at Alipur, where the air quality level was recorded at 48 "good".
The Indian Meteorological Department had predicted the minimum temperature in Delhi on Saturday to be 19 degrees Celsius and maximum 33 degrees Celsius along with thunderstorms and rain.
On Sunday, March 16, the weather department has predicted cloudy skies with light rain. The department said that the minimum temperature is likely to be around 17 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius.
