Jammu Kashmir Encounter: Encounter between army and terrorists in Kathua, terrorist hideout found in the forests of Doda

An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district on Sunday evening. A search operation was launched in Sanyal village on the Indo-Pak border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district on Sunday evening after suspicious movement of persons. Officials said that additional forces have been sent to the spot and further information is awaited.

Earlier in the day, security forces launched a joint search operation in Sangla area of Surankot in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district after some "suspicious movement" was noticed, news agency ANI reported. The joint operation was carried out by the Indian Army's Romeo Force and Poonch Police.

In another development, a terrorist hideout was busted in a remote forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, from where a pistol and some ammunition was recovered, officials told news agency PTI on Sunday.

The hideout was discovered during a joint search operation by local police and Army's Special Operations Group (SOG) in the Bhalra forest area of Bhaderwah on Saturday.

He said that a pistol, its three magazines and six rounds and 25 rounds of AK rifle bullets were recovered from the hideout. He said that no one was arrested during the operation. This operation was conducted on a specific intelligence after receiving information about suspicious activity.
