Tariff War: Tariff on Canadian aluminium and steel doubled, this is why Trump increased the shock

Tariff War: In his second term, US President Donald Trump doubled the blow by doubling the tariff on Canada. Trump said on Tuesday that the plan to impose a tariff of 25 percent on the purchase of steel and aluminum from Canada has now been changed and the tariff has been doubled to 50 percent. This has further deepened the trade war. Trump says that the increased rates will come into effect from Wednesday. The US President has given this information on the social media platform Truth Social.

Why did Trump double the tariff on Canada?

US President Donald Trump has doubled the tariff rate on Canadian steel and aluminium due to the increase in the price of electricity sold to the US. He wrote on Trush Social that Canada has imposed a 25 percent tariff on electricity coming to the US, after which the US Secretary of Commerce has been instructed to impose another 25 percent tariff on all steel and aluminium coming from Canada. The increased rates will come into effect from March 12.
