Delhi Anand Vihar Fire: A massive fire broke out in a hut near AGCR Enclave in Anand Vihar, East Delhi. Three labourers from Uttar Pradesh died in the fire. This incident happened at 2:15 am on Tuesday. A gas cylinder also exploded during the fire. Several fire engines put out the fire after a lot of effort. Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received information about this incident at 2:22 am on Monday night. After this, three fire engines were sent to the spot.

An official said the fire was brought under control at 2.50 am. Fire service official Feroz confirmed that the charred bodies of three people were recovered from inside the hut at 3.10 am. According to the DFS, the deceased have been identified as Jaggi Kumar (34), Shyam Singh (36) and Jitendra Kumar (35). All of them were residents of Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh.

It is being told that this incident happened due to the explosion of an LPG cylinder in a slum located on Mangalam Road. The flames of the fire were so intense that the workers trapped inside could not come out. This incident happened in a temporary tent, where four workers of IGL firm were staying.

As soon as the fire was reported, fire tenders rushed to the spot and after an extensive operation, the fire was successfully brought under control. Following the incident, officials from the fire department, Delhi Police crime team and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) inspected the spot to ascertain the cause of the fire.

Jaggi from Banda, Shyam Singh from Auraiya, Kanta Prasad from Auraiya and Nitin from Ghaziabad were resting in a tent when suddenly the fire engulfed the tent. The bodies of the deceased have been kept in the mortuary for postmortem. At present, further investigation is going on in the case.

An official said all three died due to suffocation caused by the fire. The statement said the deceased and another labourer worked for Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and lived in a temporary tent located near the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) plot on Mangalam Road.

"They used a small diesel-fired can to light the tent and reportedly placed it on the cooler stand. Survivor Nitin said that around 2 am, Shyam Singh woke up and saw the flames, and then tried to open the door but was unsuccessful. As the flames intensified, Nitin managed to escape but the other three were trapped and engulfed in the flames," the statement said.

A gas cylinder inside the tent also exploded, further aggravating the fire. According to the statement, officials suspect that a diesel container may have caused the fire. However, an investigation is underway to ascertain the actual cause of the fire. Police said the bodies have been shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem.
