Diabetes patients are spreading rapidly all over the world. Crores of people are falling prey to this disease. People suffering from diabetes have high blood sugar levels. Which needs to be controlled throughout life. Diabetes can happen to people of any age. People who are overweight. If the ketone level of diabetes patients becomes high, then it is a matter of concern. The level of ketones in the body becomes high when insulin starts decreasing gradually. Due to which the problem of ketonuria increases in type-1 diabetes patients.
When our body uses fat and protein instead of carbohydrates for energy, in such a situation a chemical is formed in the body. Which is called ketone. These ketones get out of the body through the toilet, but sometimes their quantity increases in the urine. This causes a serious condition called ketonuria. This can also cause diabetic ketoacidosis.
What is ketonuria?
When the amount of ketones in the toilet starts increasing, then this entire condition is called ketonuria. Ketones are formed in the liver. There are three types of them: acetoacetate, β-hydroxybutyrate, and acetone. The amount of ketones in the urine starts increasing when the body starts breaking down the body's backup i.e. fat and protein cells for energy. Diabetes patients need to eliminate this problem. Due to which there is a deficiency of fat and protein in the body. Insulin decreases in this. In such a situation, due to lack of insulin, a type 1 diabetes patient is at risk of ketonuria.
When do ketone levels increase?
Staying hungry for a long time, eating less food, reducing the amount of fat, carbohydrates, starch and glucose in the body, sometimes even during pregnancy or due to fasting, ketones start increasing in the urine. If diabetes is not under control, it can cause ketonuria. In type 1 diabetes, the body produces very little amount of insulin. Due to which the body itself starts breaking down proteins and producing ketones.
Symptoms of ketonuria
Symptoms like thirst, nausea, dehydration, frequent urination, difficulty in breathing, dilated pupils of the eyes can be seen.
How to prevent ketonuria
Keep the blood glucose level in the body under control. Those who take insulin should take it at the right time. Staying hungry for too long should be avoided. Always keep your blood sugar level under control.
